FAQ

Here’s a list of questions we thought might be helpful for you.

What does a Weekend All Access Pass include?

Your Weekend All-Access Pass includes two days of unlimited demo bikes, 1-entry to the poker ride, skills contest entry, a festival souvenir, and all of the live music, group rides, presentations, and fun!  *Demo bikes are first come first served, a Weekend All Access Pass does not guarantee you get a bike immediately, you might have to wait your turn.

What does a Single Day Demo Pass include?

The Single Day Demo Pass is for Saturday or Sunday, and will only get you access to demo bikes.  You will have to purchase your poker ride and skills contest entries separately. Demo bikes are first come, first served.  Arrive early!

What is a demo bike?

A demo bike is a bike from one of our awesome bike brand sponsors that you can take out for a test ride!  Each brand has their own rules, but typically you’ll get to test ride for about an hour.  Want to ride up Timber on an e-bike or shred down Kimmons on a bike with more suspension than you’ve dreamed?  You need to grab that Weekend All-Access or Single Day Demo Pass.  Demo bikes are first come first served.

Does Lory State Park charge for parking?

Yes.  You can enter the park with $10 daily pass, Colorado Parks & Wildlife Annual Pass, or the Keep Colorado Wild pass included in your vehicle registration.  To purchase a daily pass, please stop at the Visitor Center as you enter Lory State Park.

Parking is a pain at Lory, where else can I park for the festival?

Great question!  You could park at Inlet Bay Marina on the south side of Horsetooth Reservoir and ride the fast 6 miles of singletrack to Festival Central.  Ride from home or town and we might just have a special bonus poker ride card for you.  Please don’t park at Reservoir Ridge to ride in, that’s unfair for folks wanting to play there.

Can I camp at Lory State Park?

Yes!  We highly recommend booking one of the back-country sites at Lory for you and all your friends.  Head up there Friday night and stay for the weekend.  No driving or parking woes.  Book sites here: https://cpw.state.co.us/placestogo/parks/Lory/Pages/Camping.aspx

I see camping is available at Horsetooth Reservoir, is that an option?

Absolutely!  There are RV, tent, boat-in, and backcountry sites as well as cabins on Horsetooth Reservoir which can be booked through Larimer County.  Depending on your site, the ride into Lory State Park and festival central will vary from 3-10 miles.  PRO TIP:  The boat-in sites can be accessed by bike for you bike-packers.  Book Horsetooth sites here: https://www.larimer.gov/naturalresources/reservations/campgrounds

What is a Poker Ride?

It’s a fun, family-friendly, scavenger-hunt type ride where you collect playing cards trying to make the best poker hand for prizes.  You can purchase one poker card per person.  Maps will be handed out to navigate the ride.  Poker card stations will be clearly marked.  You’ll draw one card per station. Turn in your card at the end of the ride to win prizes!

Can I ride with my child during Take-a-Kid Mountain Biking?

Yes.  We will have designated ride leaders, so you don’t have to ride with your child.  You are welcome to ride with them if you choose, but it isn’t required.

What are the riding options for this event?

Between Lory State Park and the adjoining Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, you’ll have access to 50 miles of singletrack!  Pedal the Poker Ride on Saturday with 3 routes to choose from, make new friends on a guided ride Sunday, or follow our suggested routes anytime.  Kids have their own ride during Take-a-Kid Mountain Biking on Sunday.  Ride your own bike, or take out a demo!  Please follow suggested route directions for max fun!

Where do event dollars go?

All proceeds from the event go back into creating world-class mountain biking and backcountry experiences in Northern Colorado.  Overland Mountain Bike Association will use the funds to advocate for trail re-routes, upgrades, and new trail builds.
